Tailored fastening solutions for electromobility
In the future-oriented electromobility market, EJOT focuses on the development and mass production of highly specialized functional and fastening elements for safety and performance-critical applications, particularly in high-voltage batteries and power electronics. This is based on proprietary manufacturing technologies, materials engineering expertise and application-oriented development support, enabling customer-specific solutions from concept through to series production.
As the central energy system of an electric vehicle, the traction battery places the highest demands on structural integrity, sealing performance and assembly processes. EJOT employs proven technologies specifically adapted to battery-related requirements:
Copper components perform essential functions in the power electronics of modern electric vehicles, including power distribution and thermal management. EJOT manufactures high-precision copper components using a multi-stage cold-forming process.
Compared to machined parts, cold forming offers high material efficiency through chipless production, improved component properties resulting from cold work hardening and excellent cost-effectiveness in large-scale manufacturing due to short cycle times.
Additional process steps such as coating, structuring and functional surface finishing enable precise adaptation to electrical, thermal and corrosion-related requirements.
The VOLTtec® Insulated Screw from EJOT addresses these requirements through targeted plastic overmolding at both the screw head and tip. This provides defined electrical isolation and protection against unintended electrical bridging.
To ensure functional reliability, every part undergoes a 100% dielectric strength test at 4,000 volts during production. The result is a fastening element that delivers a high level of safety during operation as well as during maintenance and repair activities.
Conclusion
With a cross-portfolio approach, ranging from mechanical joining technologies and cold-formed components to insulated fastening elements, EJOT offers solutions to the key challenges of electromobility: functional integration, process reliability and scalability in mass production.

Safe and process-reliable battery assembly
As the central energy system of an electric vehicle, the traction battery places the highest demands on structural integrity, sealing performance and assembly processes. EJOT employs proven technologies specifically adapted to battery-related requirements: - FDS® Flow Drill Screws enable one-sided joining without a pilot hole, even in multi-material designs and areas with limited accessibility. In a special version featuring an integrated aluminum sealing washer, they ensure leak-tight and gas-tight connections between the battery housing and the battery cover.
- EJOWELD® Friction Element Welding provides robust process windows for joining additional aluminum components to battery frames, particularly when combining dissimilar materials and varying material thicknesses.
- For plastic battery housings, EVO PT® screws enable reliable direct fastening with high pull-out strength and low component stress, thanks to their optimized thread geometry.

Insulated fasteners for high-voltage systems
High-voltage systems in electric vehicles typically operate in the range of 400 to 800 volts, with voltage levels continuing to increase. As a result, the demands on electrical insulation, short-circuit protection and serviceability of fastening components are also growing. The VOLTtec® Insulated Screw from EJOT addresses these requirements through targeted plastic overmolding at both the screw head and tip.
