The Standard Solution for variable clamping thicknesses As versatile and diverse as the demands on the fastener technology are today, as versatile are also the available fasteners. Direct assembly is the most favourable cost saving solution because no additional assembly elements are required. However, this method is sometimes limited, for example for thin-walled components, components that don‘t allow for injection moulded bosses, multi layered assemblies and thin sheet metals. One solution for this is the EJOT® „boss“ Family - clip-on plastic fasteners that replace the injection moulded insert and can be used where direct assembly is not possible. Compared to the usual sheet metal clips, these elements do not damage the corrosion protection of the component or the screw and they offer high pre-clamping forces even over the long term. This results in increased dynamic stability of the joint.
The newest product of the EJOT® „boss“ family is the plastic fastener EASYboss® V, which offers the possibility to compensate variable clamping thicknesses. Due to the resilient suspension of the screw tube, pre-assembly is possible onto variable wall thicknesses of the sub-component. This way clamping thicknesses from 2,5 to 5,5 mm can be compensated with only one element, which allows a considerable reduction of articles.
The screw tube of the EASYboss® V is integrated into the element over two injection moulded springs which also realise the captive clamping onto the sub-construction while the clip is not yet fastened with the screw. The EASYboss® V can be very easily mounted and securely positioned onto variable wall thicknesses despite the large range of possible insertion thicknesses. A process capable and dynamic joint is guaranteed with this “Boss”.
The new „plastic-boss“ in connection with the EJOT Delta PT® Screw offers an optimal system to securely fasten components in regards to cost reduction through standardisation. Because of the small dimension it is even possible to replace existing fasteners (e.g. metal clips) with the EASYboss® V. In the automotive field this system is especially suited for applications on dashboards, centre consoles, linings and covers. Because of its outstanding corrosion resistance there are no problems with applications in contact to moisture either. The applications, for example in the electronic and household appliance industry, are thus manifold as well.
